Nissan Sunny Facelift 2014
The Nissan Sunny was launched in India in 2011. As the facelift is mechanically similar to the earlier model, It focus on the cosmetic changes only.

Exterior:
While the new Sunny still maintains the overall silhouette of the outgoing model, Nissan has adopted a far more aggressive design methodology for the latest iteration. The large boomerang style headlights and enlarged grille give the Sunny a bolder presence. Resembling the company’s flagship, the Teana, the new front end adds a touch of class to the car. The chrome lined grille paired with the chrome accented fog lamp enclosures despite building on the car’s aesthetic appeal does seem a bit too much bling.
Along the sides, the new Sunny sports chrome door handles along with ORVM mounted side indicators. However, the redesigned twelve spoke alloys still don’t seem quite right for the car.
The rear has been left largely unchanged save for the redesigned bumper with the Nissan logo sitting atop a subtle ridge over the chrome lined trunk garnish.
Interior:
The most striking bit of the interior is the centre console. The piano black centre console is extremely impressive to look at and makes good use of quality plastics and provides a unique two screen display system.
While both the petrol and diesel variants sport similar music systems, the top end diesel variant is better equipped. A large 5.1 inch primary display is used to control the music system and doubles up as the display for the reverse camera parking system while the smaller, secondary display presents the current air con settings. The new centre console is a huge step up from the outgoing model and adds a touch of flair the old model lacked.
The music system offers the usual Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, FM/AM, USB, CD and AUX input options. Animations and menu transitions are clean and smooth, however the 4 speaker system and car acoustics could have been a tad bit better.
The instrument cluster features an uncluttered design with the tachometer and speedometer being the only analogue gauges. Odometer, tripmeter, fuel and engine temperature readings are all displayed via a single display.
The new Sunny uses an all new three spoke steering wheel that features steering mounted controls for the audio system and controls for your Bluetooth connected phone. The brushed metal finish and new three spoke design improves on the overall cabin quality.
Safety:
Nissan has greatly improved on the safety front with the 2014 Sunny. Offering a wide mix of safety f eatures such as ABS, EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), Brake Assist and front and side airbags, the new Sunny is packed to the brim with safety equipment. And with the recent showcasing of the poor safety standards adopted by Indian manufacturers at the NCAP tests, it’s good to see the Japanese maker has taken the time to make the new Sunny one of the safest cars in its price range.

1913 FN RESTORATION A DIFFERENT KIND
While an actual motorcycle is the most widely understood subject of a restoration, in truth far more cosmetic work is performed on photographs of old motorcycles than on actual machines today. Digital media workers spend hours clarifying the information from rough old photographs - its unsung work, done every day, by people like me. Every photo - even digital - is raw material to be shaped for particular impact; to expose technical details, establish a mood, emphasize action, or separate a machine from its background. Vintagent reader Marco Bakker sent this short film of his restoration of a 1913 FN four-cylinder, from venerable arms manufacturer Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre in Herstal, Belgium. The photograph was taken in 1917, with its owner Jan Lodewijk van Bekkum and his sons, taken in Giessendam, Holland. As Marco says, "Photoshop is the workshop."
I reckon this time-lapse Photoshop journey would take 3 or 4 hours in real time, which is typical for restoring a lightly damaged photograph. Theres no magic button to press which makes creases, water stains, and dirt spots disappear, just a lot of skilled, detailed work. The result is a vastly more readable photograph, which is a pleasure to share.

History
Passenger pick-up vehicles (or commonly called as PPV) are a popular vehicle segment in Thailand, mainly because pick-up trucks such as the Toyota Hilux Vigo and Isuzu D-Max are their best sellers that makes sense to expand the market. These vehicles have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages, good is they are mostly tough and building them does not require a fortune but they suffer poor riding dynamics since they have pick-up truck genes. Vehicles competing in this segment currently include the Toyota Fortuner (Hilux based), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (platform derived from the Strada), Chevrolet Trailblazer (shares its platform with the Colorado), Ford Everest (Ranger derived), and the Isuzu MU-X (D-Max based).
Year 2002 saw the launch of the D-Max pick-up in Thailand that replaced the TF line (includi ng our Fuego, locally) but the MU-7 didnt had it launch until November 2004. It was basically a D-Max in body but the rear area was covered and this got a revised suspension system that suited for carrying passengers than cargo. In Thailand, it replaced the Wizard SUV, also based from the predecessor of the Max. Although its pick-up cousin was treated to a redesign in 2011, the MU had a new body two years later with a name change to MU-X.
Before, the Trooper was the sole SUV offering of Isuzu Philippines until various problems with the injectors had the Alterra (its local name) replacing it which had the Everest and Fortuner to compete with back then. It bowed out in September 2014 with the MU-X, a more competent vehicle, was released. During its selling time, a sole 4x2 and 4x4 models were available until they were renamed as the Urban Cruiser in 2011 and Urban Cruiser X in 2012 with a less optioned Zen added in 2009.
Value and Costs
With the MU-X having its debut recently, expect Alterra prices to be in the same level of popular competitors. Prices range from P550,000 for the early models to P1,100,000 for 2013 models. As a general rule, January 2012 and later purchased units have a remainder of their warranty so have a lookout for those. 4WD option was added to the range in December 2005 but only paired with an automatic.
Thanks to its brand reputation, maintenance costs are similar or sometimes lower than rivals thats when you take care of the vehicle meticulously. Using the right fuels and regular changing of oil and filters will free the car from black smoke from the tailpipe.
Exterior and Interior
If you tell that the front resembles the D-Max, then youre correct. For some who cant say the resemblance to the pick-up truck, then just think of this: the rear bed is replaced by a roof, rear door, and third row seats are added. With a length of 4,950mm, it is significantly longer than the F ortuner and the 2008 Montero Sport. The sleek lines complement the long body but you may say that it resembles a funeral hearse (oops, November 1 had passed by). Urban Cruiser models get front and rear chin while side step boards are standard for all.
One of the selling points of this vehicle back then is a standard entertainment system in the form of a DVD player (depending on the year which may be either a single din radio or a touch screen one), two headrest monitors, 5.1 surround system, and a detachable subwoofer. Entertainment system aside, passengers can expect decent space inside but the second rows middle seat is too tight plus interior quality is acceptable and not on the cheap side.
Engine
A common trait among PPVs is that engine options are the same with their pick-up truck brethren, and the Alterra does not break the tradition with the 4JJ1 3.0 - shared with the D-Max - having 144hp at 3,800rpm and 294Nm with a torque range between 1,40 0-3,400rpm. On paper, power figures are conservative but drive it and youll see effortless driving to 100kph but go beyond it and it shows its limitations. On the other hand, the low torque range can give you high fuel economy figures. As always, expect some engine clatter since this reminds you that youre driving a diesel.
Driving Impressions
Since this is an SUV based on a truck, so dont expect sports car handling plus maneuvering this can be hard no thanks to its long size. The suspension settings are tuned for comfort, so driving this one at high speeds or road ruts then it begins to bounce out. If you prefer a wallowy ride similar to some American cars, this is it.
Verdict
If you need a cheap SUV which has a diesel engine, then put the Alterra on your list. Some traits like a hard to maneuver vehicle and a bouncy ride may put others off, but then you can live with those compromises.

BRM Reveals Sauber Mercedes C9 1 24 RTR
Italys BRM Model Cars has revealed additional details about the latest in their "Group C" line; 1/24 Ready to Run Sauber-Mercedes C9 in two forms: The Sauber-Mercedes LeMans 1989 24 Hours Winner and a "Black Edition" that has the test car aerodynamics and early body features.
The model of the LeMans winning car model sports the unique aerodynamic features of car #63 which was driven to victory by Jochen Mass, Manuel Reuter and Stanley Dickens.
The new Sauber-Mercedes C9 scale model offers chassis improvements that may eventually be added to the production of previously released Group C models such as the Porsche 962 and Toyota 88C.
A welcome feature of this model is the rear wing mounting system. To prevent breakage of the rear wing, BRM has made an attachment with a small neodymium magnet that allows the wing to detach on impact or shock making the wing assembly virtually unbreakable.

Porsche has now released the full gamut of details and images for its upcoming sedan. The Panamera will officially go on sale in April next year and will make its world debut one month earlier at the Geneva Motor Show. Porsche will be able to build up to 26,000 units per year at its Leipzig Plant, but actual production levels will be kept at just 20,000. It will be a large car, measuring 1,931mm (76.0in) in width, 1,418mm (55.8in) in height, and 4,970mm (195.7in) in length. Inside, there will be space for four occupants, and the whole car will weigh in at around 1,800kg. Porsche has developed a new range of engines designed specifically for the Panamera. They range in power output from 300hp (225kW) in the base Panamera, up to 500hp (373kW) in the Panamera Turbo. A mid-range Panamera S is expected to output about 405hp (302kW) from a naturally aspirated V8. Both a six-speed manual and the new Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission will be offered. Customers will also be able to choose between rear and all-wheel-drive powertrains. Porsche has confirmed that a hybrid variant will be launched, and there may eventually be a turbodiesel model as well. Base prices in Europe ar e expected to start at €80,000 ($100,000) for the V6 RWD model and go up to €125,000 ($156,000) for the Turbo AWD variant. Prices in the U.S. tend to be lower than they are in Europe. Further details on the engines, transmissions, performance, prices and equipment will be disclosed closer to the car’s launch next year.The saga of the Panameras development has been fraught with an undercurrent of disapproval from Porsche purists, who see the addition of a second set of doors to a sports car as equivalently heretical, or even more so, than the Cayenne, itself anathema to the brands lovers of all things fast and sleek. There were even widespread concerns at early stages of development that the Panamera might take the spotlight as the ugliest Porsche ever, and though the car remains uncharacteristically long and unwieldy-looking, later iterations have somewhat allayed those fears. One thing is certain - the Panamera is set to change the performance sedan market radically. Bridging the gap between the so-called super-sedans, or four-door grand tourers, such as the Maserati Quattroporte, or the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide and the more typical hotted-up family sedan, the Panamera will offer extreme high performance in a more affordable package. The importance of image is not overlooked with the Panamera either, with both hybrid and diesel variants expected to begin sales within a year or two of the cars retail debut. The hybrid unit is expected to include a 3.6L V6 and a 110hp (82kW) electric motor that will enhance both efficiency and performance. The diesel unit would likely be an Audi-sourced 3.0L V6 unit similar to the one to be used in th Cayenne.

Mercedes G63 AMG Dubai Police Car Brabus tuned for 700 HP
Dubai Police now embraces TUNE IT! SAFE! concept in the UAE with BRABUS B63S â€" 700 WIDESTAR in Police livery celebrating its world premiere at the Dubai International Motor Show 2013 at Dubai World Trade Center.
